Michael Piludu and his team from Urban Space have done an outstanding job for us. It was no ordinary loft conversion and required a contractor who was willing to think outside the box. His staff were incredibly hard working, respectful and tidy at all times and took genuine pride in their work. We would highly recommend them.
As a woman living on my own, I was keen to employ a builder I could trust to welcome into my home and also to do a great job. I interviewed several builders, but Michael was the only tradesman who, on a first meeting, spent time with me to talk over what I wanted, and has helped me make the most of the space I have. Having taken on board some of his ideas, I have ended up spending more money than I had planned to on the refurbishment of the upstairs of my maisonette, but I know already I won’t regret the changes made. He has increased my floorspace and added extras as I have gone along, all the time mindful of my budget. Any problems so far, which are to be expected on any build, have been minor and have been rectified quickly and satisfactorily. Michael has been great at driving the project and making sure I am satisfied with the work at every stage. His team are not only polite and respectful, but they are also skilful workmen and work clean at the end of every day. Although the work on my flat is not quite completed yet, I would have no hesitation in recommending Michael and his team. When I come to refurbishing the downstairs of my flat, I will be calling on him to carry out the work.

Michael and his team have helped me with a couple of projects (loft conversion, rear extension & complete refurb) at my “half house” in Dulwich. I was unclear how to best utilise the space but Michael supported me throughout the planning, architectural, and structural works. I am delighted with the end result which has a really high quality feel – clean lines and subtle touches such as hidden cupboards and bookshelves. The works also ran to schedule with minimum disruptions. I have loved the end result of both projects and would have no hesitation in either recommending Urban Space to friends or using them again myself. |
Michael gave a thorough and fair quote, which accurately reflected our wishes and also benefited from his considered suggestions, based on his experience and eye for detail.
He was really flexible and understanding when we had to delay the start of work because of quarantine – but once the project was underway, his team worked very hard every day, starting punctually at 8am and sometimes not finishing till as late as 7.00pm. They were all very polite, quiet, and clean, and there was altogether a congenial and positive atmosphere amongst them. That they are a real team and not a collection of subcontractors is another positive, avoiding any blame games and allowing for efficient work.
The job has been to an excellent standard and some of the considerable structural challenges were tackled with thought and precision.
We ended up adding other things to the project – such as levelling the floor and laying a new engineered wood top and skirting board – all of which have further enhanced the fantastic finish Urban Space offered.
